The person behind is kneeling with one hand on the other's shoulder, resting their chin on the hand, wearing a denim jacket and black pants, looking thoughtful.
Therapy doesn’t have to feel like this

Teen Therapy for Queer, Trans, & Neurodivergent Youth

Virtual therapy for teens in California and British Columbia

Therapy That Actually Works for Teens

Teenagers can smell fake a mile away. At Transparent Talk Therapy, we offer virtual therapy for teens in California and British Columbia, with a focus on queer, trans, and neurodivergent teens. We don’t do the fake-smile wellness voice thing. We do honesty, humor, and practical support so teens can be themselves.

What We Help With

  • Anxiety, depression, and overwhelm

  • LGBTQ+ identity exploration

  • Coping with bullying, isolation, or family conflict

  • Executive functioning struggles and school stress

  • Navigating neurodivergence (ADHD, autism, sensory challenges)

  • Healing from trauma or difficult early experiences

What to Expect in Teen Therapy

We start with building a bond that creates a sense of ease, often done through humor. Teens are more likely to open up when they feel respected and like we don’t have a hidden agenda to tell you what they say. Your teen’s sessions are private and confidential (unless there’s a safety concern).

We use tools from narrative therapy, parts work, trauma-informed practice, and neurodivergent-affirming care to help teens process overwhelming feelings and build coping strategies that actually work for them. We understand that trust and fit matter more than any therapy “method,” and we meet teens with humor, curiosity, and zero judgment.

How long should my teen be in therapy?

It depends on their goals. Some teens benefit from a few months of support, while others want ongoing space to process life. We usually suggest at least 4 weeks in a row to build that initial rapport, and from there we’ll figure out a rhythm that works for your family.

FAQs

Will you tell me everything my teen says?

No. Teens need privacy to feel safe. We’ll keep you in the loop on safety and progress, but the details of sessions stay with your teen.

My teen hates Zoom. Will virtual therapy even work?

Yes! We suggest giving it a try, and we’ll be honest with you if it isn’t working out. Teens often end up loving the comfort of being in their own space, and we adapt to what makes them feel engaged.

We’re Julie (she/they) and Aubrey (they/them), queer and neurodivergent-affirming therapists with years of experience supporting teens. We get how awkward therapy can feel at first, and how powerful it can be when your teen and your family start to experience relief.

We currently offer virtual sessions for teens across California and British Columbia.
